Lets visit Jesús
The small but idyllic village of Jesús is located about four kilometers northeast of Ibiza Town. The symbol with which Jesús is often referred to is the historic church located in the center of the village. In the vicinity of Jesús there are well-known beaches such as S'Estanyol and Talamanca, but Jesús itself also has plenty to offer, making a visit to the village worthwhile.
Although the growing village is close to the capital of Ibiza, it has managed to retain its rural beauty. After a few residential areas, the area around Jesús soon changes into dunes and pine forest.
Jesús is becoming more and more popular because of the good restaurants, shops and there is even a gym in the village! Locals love the village of Jesús for its minimalist yet beautiful architecture and the strong sense of unity that prevails within the village. What also makes Jesús attractive is the wide range of good restaurants and bars. Jesús is located in the outskirts of Ibiza Town, only a five minute drive from the well-known Pacha. Fun fact; during the summer months, dressed-up clubbers from Ibiza Town who drive back to the north of the island regularly pass Jesús to score a nice breakfast before they go to bed!
Nostra Mare De Jesús
The main landmark of Jesús is the church Nostra Mare de Jesús in the middle of the village. This church is so special because it is one of the oldest churches on the island, it was built in 1498, making it an important piece of history for Ibiza. In this church you will find a beautiful altar with style features from the Renaissance and Gothic. This altar is one of Ibiza's most important heirlooms. The altarpiece can be admired in the 16th-century Capella del Prebiteri every Thursday between 10 a.m. and 12 noon and occasionally during a Mass.
Fiesta de Jesús
On September 8th every year Fiesta de Jesús is held. Nostra Mare de Jesús church is central to this and festivities are organized such as parades in the church square, fruit offerings for the Blessed Virgin Mary, live music and a street festival. The party ends with a spectacular fireworks show in the evening.
A five-minute drive from Jesús is the beautiful beach of S'Estanyol, surrounded by pine trees and a clear blue sea. Unlike some beaches on Ibiza, this beach is not crowded, even in the middle of the summer season it is still fairly quiet. This undiscovered gem is definitely worth a visit! In addition to relaxing, you can also enjoy snorkeling in the calm sea water.
